Description:
The items below were chosen to have the patterns printed on them for specific reasons, most importantly, these items are used daily in a Qatari person's life. One can choose their own clothing, drink from a coffee shop of their choice, or choose their own phone case. while in reality, these things do show a person's uniqueness, I chose to cover them with patterns of trends to conceal the uniqueness of these items, and cover them with what is currently trending as a way to poke fun at this cultural trait in a subversive way.
So the first item is the T-shirts. I decided to go with T-shirts because it’s something that can be worn daily by both genders. And it has more freedom of choice for anyone because it’s not solely based on trends. And I made sure that the pattern sizes aren’t too big or too small but just enough to fit nicely on a t-shirt surface.

Next, we have the paper cups, I chose this item because most Qataris like to get hot drinks like Karak or coffee on the go from different cafes, so there so no specific trend for paper cups but most Qataris use them on a daily basis.
These items took the longest to get right because I had to deal with image quality issues when printing in very small pattern sizes. It was a challenge because I never made patterns based on images before, it was always illustration patterns.
And I had to print and make a couple of different sizes of paper cups to find the best size that would be the best to show the patterns clearly. So in the end I settled with a 12-ounce cup size. And of course with a black lid to make the focus be on the patterns and to also match the aesthetics of my thesis.

And lastly, we have the iPhone 14 pro cases. I chose this item because phone cases are unique to each person no matter what culture they are from, and they are used by everyone. And I specifically chose to have the cases designed for iPhone 14 pro, since it's currently the latest iPhone that has been released, and most Qataris use the latest iPhones.
